![]() In 1959 in the Ural mountains of Russia, nine avid experienced hikers/skiers died of hypothermia or fatal impact injuries. Igor Dyatlov was the leader of the group. Eight men and two women set out on the ski tour. The expedition was to hike 6.2 mi north of the site of the incident. The exhibition category was a Grade level 3.
